Let’s talk brew techniques. Yes, there are lots of delicious options – hot brew, cold brew, sun brew, iced. We’ll help you cut-the-clutter and you’ll be a f*cking brewing pro in no time.
Is your head swimming between all the coffee and tea buzzwords? Hot brew or cold brew? Iced or Sun Tea? Cold brew coffee or cold brew tea?
Here’s the breakdown of how these delicious brewing methods measure up. Here at Snarky Tea, we’re sweet on the benefits of cold brew tea. But whether you’re craving a refreshing treat or need a cozy pick-me-up – we’ve got a tea for you!
Both hot and cold brew tea are scrumptious, can be caffeinated or not, and offer bada** health benefits. Both are brewed from the same tea leaves. From there, you’ll notice the differences.
Hot brewed tea has more caffeine than cold brew tea (using the same blend).
Hot brew tends to be more bitter; cold brew is sweeter and more refreshing.
Types of cold brews deliver more antioxidants and other health benefits than hot brews.
Cold brew tea is brewed with cold water and steeped over hours. Hot tea is brewed with (wait for it… ) hot water and steeped for minutes. (link to ‘Crafting’)
Chill or add ice to hot brewed tea, and Voila! – Iced Tea.
If hot brew is your thing – or exactly what you need, today – you’ve gotta try our Bottom’s Up Steeper!
Iced tea and cold brew tea are both typically served cold. But since iced tea is brewed hot, it’s a similar flavor pallet, caffeine composition, and antioxidant package as hot brewed tea – but more refreshing on a hot a** day. Cold brew tea is steeped in cold water over hours, and iced tea is made faster by brewing hot tea in minutes and pouring it over ice.
But we f*cking love the taste of cold brew! Not to mention, it’s fun to make you don’t need to water down the flavor with ice. So, what’s your rush? It’s easy to prep your cold brew the night before and enjoy it all day!
Whoa! Right turn. We’re talking about coffee now? Cold brew coffee is soooo hot right now, but here at Snarky Tea, we live by our own rules – not society’s.
Cold brew tea and coffee are both brewed over hours, with cold water. Both are smoother than their hot counterparts.
But cold brew coffee is still coffee. Cold brew tea has less caffeine and is better for your immune system than cold brew coffee. Cold brew tea brings you all the benefits of tea, but coffee – just can’t. And tea won’t leave you with anxiety or jitters.
If you need a caffeine kick, try Fierce B*tch cold or hot. Or, if you’re dead set on your coffee habit – the CHILL filter has you covered. Its super-fine mesh works to cold brew coffee, too.
OK, back to tea. We love making sun tea when the weather is right! Since brewing tea in the sun (or at room temperature) will never get as hot as hot brewing tea, it retains a smoothness and other nifty traits of cold brew tea because it is not hot enough to extract tannins.
And sun tea doesn’t take as long to brew as cold brew tea does. To enjoy sun tea cold, we suggest chilling it in the refrigerator after steeping rather than diluting the blissful flavor with ice.
OR mix it up to match your mood. With so many incredible options for brew methods and blends, there’s always a thirst-quenching answer. And if you’re stuck – try GLOW – whether hot, iced, or cold brew, it’ll be just what you need to revitalize your day!
